Hiroya Tsukamoto Performance!
September 22, 2025ArtsLink presents WVU Jazz Faculty and Friends Ensemble on Thursday, November 6, at 7:00 pm at Tyler Consolidated High School. This free concert is being presented thanks to funding from the Stealey Community Fund. The Friends include member of the Tyler Consolidated High School Jazz Band.
The faculty group features in-demand artists, performers and educators Dr. Jeff Siegfried (WVU Saxophone Professor), Dr. Robert Sears (WVU Trumpet Professor and Jazz Ensemble 1 Director), Alton Wong (WVU Doctoral Jazz Piano Graduate Assistant), Chris McGraw (WV Native and Pittsburgh Freelance Artist), and Brian Wolfe (WVU Jazz Drums Professor). The ensemble will perform works by jazz greats Dexter Gordon, Horace Silver, Lee Morgan, Mark Levine, Wayne Shorter, Roy Hargrove, in addition to performing original compositions and arrangements by members of the group.
THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC at West Virginia University (music.wvu.edu) brings together musicians and scholars from across the nation and the world in a vibrant musical community that is dedicated to fostering excellence, creativity, and innovation in the arts and humanities. It is the flagship music institution in the state and is housed in the multi-million-dollar Creative Arts Center. The School of Music comprises over 300 music majors, 33 full-time and several part-time faculty and is the only fully accredited music unit in the state of West Virginia that offers BA, BM, BS, MM, MA, and DMA degree programs in music.
The College of Creative Arts and Media has an enrollment of over 2,000 students and consists of four professionally accredited and nationally recognized Schools of Art & Design, Media & Communications, Music, and Theatre & Dance. Each School offers a range of undergraduate and graduate degrees addressing such fields as the creative and performing arts, advertising and communications, arts education and scholarship, design disciplines, journalism, marketing and public relations, museum studies, the recording industry, theatre technology, and the intersection of art and health.
Funding for this program is made possible with assistance from West Virginia Northern Community College, WETZ/WYMJ Radio, EQT Foundation, and the Antero Foundation. This project is supported with financial assistance from the West Virginia Department of Tourism and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval of the West Virginia Commission on the Arts. Additional funding provided by the Stealey Community Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley.
